MERVYN KING

Mervyn King made a controversial switch to the PDC from the BDO Organisation early this year 2007. Whilst in the BDO World Championships, Mervyn stated that despite the speculation and rumours that were emerging, he was staying with the BDO for some time to come. On another occasion, King blamed a defeat to Barneveld on the air conditioning, he claimed it was blowing the dart whilst in flight. Also in a match at 1-1 in sets, Mervyn complained that the oche was not the correct length, so the players had to leave the stage in order for it to be re-measured.

King has been runner up twice in the BDO world Championship, and since joining the PDC, hasn’t shown the ability he had when with the BDO as he only made one quarter final in the season. Mervyn suffered from the ‘yips’ for some years and had to quit the game of darts until he remodelled his action along with the aid of his father.
