Barney can now be put along legends such as Eric Bristow and Phil Taylor. Winning 4 world titles in the BDO, Raymond was guaranteed the illusive fifth title, before being shocked by Jelle Klassen in the final.

After the disappointment of the final , it was announced at a special Holsten Premier League press conference that Raymond Van Barneveld
would make the switch from the BDO to the PDC. The move was perceived as a wrong move by sceptics of his talent, but these were put into place in only his third televised match, scoring a terrific 9 dart leg against Peter Manley. The form continued, with Barney winning the UK Open and eventually the 2007 World Championship in an amazing tussle against Phil taylor.
